Aloka + BS Quilt #37

Our friends at Aloka (based in Atlanta and Athens) reenergize beautiful vintage quilts made of layers of saris that were hand-stitched in India 60-80 years ago. We're really into the amazing colors, imperfect charm, and texture, not to mention the very Bitter Southerner mashup of old-school Indian textiles and Southern quilt making.

Few notes about the quilts: Aloka blankets are one-of-a-kind vintage kantha quilts, made of layers of saris - mostly cotton and silk- that were hand-stitched in India 60-80 years ago. Aloka’s curation, creativity and finish treatments, like bathing them in botanical dyes, reinvigorate these high quality textiles with our signature softness and style.Bathed in herbal dyes (flowers, leaves, stems and other natural sources), these flower-dyed pieces possess the most beautiful, sensuous shades while retaining the soft hand Aloka textiles are known for.
